Policies and Services

Check-In Process

When you there are two ways to check in, you can simply walk in the door and put your name in the clipboard at the desk.   If you prefer to wait in the car outside we have a textline 816-686-6019 and will hear from a doctor or assistant when it’s time to come inside.

Appointment Policy

Walk-ins are welcome for existing clients. No appointment is needed except for surgeries and related procedures.  We also need appointments for OFA xrays and anything elective.

Services

Small Animal Care

We provide comprehensive reproductive assistance, ranging from semen collection to vaginal cytology, which helps determine the optimal breeding days. Our services include artificial insemination (AI) and support for natural breeding processes, facilitating successful reproduction and breeding programs for your pets.

Vaccines

Vaccinations are crucial for pets of all ages, from puppies and kittens to senior animals. Vaccines work by mimicking disease-causing organisms in the body, which prepares the immune system to fight off these actual organisms if encountered in the future.

Surgery

Our clinic offers a wide range of surgical services, priding ourselves on the quality of care we provide. Our surgical offerings include routine procedures like spays and neuters, as well as more complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. We also perform surgeries for oral health, trauma response, tumor removal, and oncological (cancer) treatments.

Reproductive Services

We treat each small animal patient with the same care and attention as if they were our own pets. We recommend annual wellness exams to ensure they remain healthy. During these exams, our doctors perform comprehensive checks from nose to tail, looking for symptoms that may indicate potential health issues.

New On Our List of Services: Animal Chiropractic Care

Animal chiropractic care adjusts the vertebrae to relieve pain, enhance joint mobility, and improve overall wellness. It is safe and effective for cats, dogs, and horses, often used alongside traditional and holistic treatments. This care can improve blood flow, optimize the nervous system, and may reduce dependence on medication. While not a replacement for surgery, it can lessen the impact of secondary conditions. Chiropractic treatment addresses issues such as neck, back, leg, or tail pain, injuries from slips, muscle spasms, nerve problems, and difficulty chewing. It’s also beneficial for regular maintenance of your pet’s spine and joints.

What Our Clients Say

They have the most amazing staff! Caring, helpful and bless them for not charging an expensive amount to treat our babies! 100/10 thank you for all you do!

Jacquelynn Maichle

The team at Independence Animal Hospital is fantastic. They always go above and beyond to ensure my dog gets the best care possible. Highly recommended!

John Smith

Crazy busy but customers and employees all seemed to be polite and friendly. I have taken my daughter’s dogs but it was the first time taking my 12 year old dog. Dr. West was very kind and professional!

Christy E

I was so worried as my pup had an injury and needed stitches. The IAH is always amazing! They were careful and wonderful for my pup and me! I am thankful to have such a great Veterinary service available for these unexpected, scary reasons, and for everyday things like annual shots and getting nails clipped. Everyone was amazing!

Nancy Wallace

We brought our cat here after a couple of days of unusual behavior. He ended up staying about a week and after blood work, x rays, and every test they could run they were able to find the cause and resolve his issue. They were great at communicating, for all of the tests time spent on him the price was very reasonable, and they saved his life. We are greatful and appreciate very much the time and effort spent finding the issue and resolving it.
